What We Do
We aim to run sessions which are open, affordable, hard work, enjoyable and satisfying through the level ofachievement reached in a final performance for family and community.
Thetford Voices run singing workshops in the summer holidays and at Christmas time.
We also run the performance-based group Quire of Voices for more experienced singers.

Christmas Carolling
Since 2008 we have annually recruited up to seventy young singers and instrumentalists who rehearse both familiar and unfamiliar carols before performances in residential homes across the town. Four or five visits in the day end with a public performance, which has been given variously in Thetford Grammar School, at Thetford Garden Centre, on the Elveden Estate (with R&R on the Victorian Gallopers) and latterly in
St Peter’s and St Cuthbert’s Church, Thetford.
Two Day Summer Workshop
The focus and highlight of the summer is the August Workshop. Children from across the region work with guest song leaders, among them Norfolk folk singer Alan Helsdon, local song-leader Sarah Skinner, Cotswolds-based Myles Granger and Christopher Wray, Director of Fulham Children’s
Choir. They prepare a dozen songs on interesting themes – Singing the Past, Marvellous Songs, Chills and Thrills, Songs of Stage and Story, Fun (fun, fun) & Games, A Menagerie of Songs – before an invariably electrifying performance for family and friends.
Other Workshops
have led to performances as part of Thetford’s Open Gardens Day and the 2012 Thetford Festival and with adult choirs, including members of the Neil Webster Music Trust,
Magdalene Chapel Choir and Thetford Singers. Most recently we have established the project-based Quire of Voices, to sing more advanced part music in such concerts.
